(The Center Square) – Wisconsin’s unemployment rate remained at 3.3% in July while the state saw a year-over-year increase of 2,000 nonfarm jobs.

The state now has a labor force of 3.14 million with a 64.5% labor force participation rate.

“The monthly data were relatively positive this month in Wisconsin, as they were last month,” said Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Office of Economic Advisors Section Chief Scott Hodek.

The state saw a monthly 1,200 increase in nonfarm jobs and overall has seen an increase of 26,500 employed year over year.

The state’s unemployment rate remains below the 4.1% national average and the labor force participation rate is above the 61.4% national average.

Hodek said that Wisconsin is seeing the same trends as the rest of the nation but it might be weathering those trends differently, but believes it is something that Wisconsin should monitor closely.

“I think it’s a little early to call out a divergence just because we haven’t seen a lot of data points yet,” Hodek said.
