Road rage leads to shooting on I-77

Virginia State Police arrested 61-year-old Richard T. Arivielo of Charlotte N.C. following a shooting incident that resulted in the hospitalization of two females.
At approximately 8:50 a.m. Saturday Aug. 22, Virginia State Police were notified of a shooting along Interstate 77 northbound at mile marker 3. Arivielo, who was driving a Mercedes-Benz, allegedly shot two female passengers ages 12 and 20, who were traveling in a Jeep. Both females were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Virginia State Police are referring to this as a road rage incident.
After the shooting, the suspect vehicle left the scene. Law enforcement later stopped the vehicle on Interstate 77 at Exit 19.
Arivielo was charged with four felonies:
1) Malicious shooting into an occupied vehicle.
2) Shooting from a vehicle
3) Maliciously causing bodily harm to another with intent to maim
4) Use of a firearm while committing a felony.
The driver of the Jeep was charged with reckless driving.
The incident remains under investigation
