ROCKPORT — Rockport-Fulton volleyball coach Jessica Clark calls Holly Baergen an “all-in type of player.”

No matter the day or the situation, Clark said the senior brings consistent effort and sets an example as a leader for the Lady Pirates squad.

“Whether she has a great day or a hard day… she is still going to bring 100% effort and attitude to every practice and game,” Clark said. “She is not scared to speak her mind, but it's always respectful and uplifting to those around her. She is all in every day, and that is so inspiring.”

That mindset has driven Baergen throughout her high school career. Now, as a senior competing in volleyball and track for Rockport-Fulton, her leadership is more crucial than ever.

As the volleyball season rolls on, Baergen aims to make a positive impact on the younger athletes following in her footsteps.

“My parents, my coaches, and all of my friends inspire me,” Baergen said. “I also want to do my best for the young girls watching me. I want to show them that they can achieve whatever they set their minds to.”

Baergen has put those words into practice over the past year while recovering from a knee injury. Clark noted earlier this season that Baergen has returned stronger than ever.

“She not only leads by example with her work ethic and skill but also motivates and inspires those around her to be the best version of themselves,” Clark said. “She is coachable and seeks guidance. She knows a lot about the game, but doesn't think she knows everything, which helps her continue to grow and learn.”

For Baergen, the drive comes down to a love for the game and her teammates.

“What I appreciate most is being able to see how a group of pretty different girls, with different backgrounds and skillsets, can come together, put in the hard work, and become a real team,” Baergen said.
