BRENHAM — The South Central Board of Realtors (SCBOR) has secured a $7,500 Placemaking Grant to support the Texas Arts & Music Festival (TAMF) in revitalizing public spaces throughout downtown Brenham.

The grant funding, provided through the National Association of REALTORS® Community Development Advocacy program, equips local real estate associations to enhance their communities through advocacy, partnerships, and targeted local initiatives. SCBOR will use the funds to strengthen the City of Brenham’s 11-year collaboration with TAMF to transform downtown areas into vibrant gathering places.

Since 2015, TAMF has spearheaded the installation of 18 permanent, large-scale murals created by nationally and internationally renowned artists across Brenham’s Main Street district. By turning blank brick walls and alleyways into a year-round, walkable outdoor gallery, the initiative drives tourist foot traffic and fosters local civic pride.

Beyond financial support, local REALTORS® will actively volunteer before, during, and after this year’s festival, scheduled for October 16–18. Other key partners for the event include festival sponsor Nextlink and stage sponsor Triple Crown Bingo.

Placemaking focuses on designing public spaces around people to strengthen neighborhoods through shared connections and civic engagement.

Over its 11-year history, TAMF has contributed more than $50,000 to student art and choir programs in Brenham, Burton, and Blinn Junior College.
