SAN ANTONIO — Laikyn Serrata led a five-runner McMullen County contingent in the Class 1A-4A varsity girls division Friday, Aug. 21, at the San Antonio Friday Night Lights Cross Country Invitational.

Serrata turned in McMullen County’s top performance, placing 32nd overall with a time of 13 minutes, 7.321 seconds. She averaged a 6:36 pace.

Crystal Gardner was the Cowgirls’ second finisher, placing 75th in 13:55.733.

Madison Villalobos followed in 104th place with a time of 14:25.131, while Ella David finished 109th in 14:29.519.

Caroline Trudeau completed McMullen County’s five varsity girls finishers, placing 123rd in 14:48.872.

Huffman Hargrave’s Payton Miller won the Class 1A-4A varsity girls race in 11:16.928. La Vernia’s Jamie Bice was second in 11:21.562, and Canyon Lake’s Eva Zabarcencu finished third in 11:24.232.

The Cowgirls finished 13th in the team standings.
