REFUGIO — The Refugio Town Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, Aug. 25, on a proposed property tax increase and tax rate for the 2026 tax year.

The special called meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the council chambers at Refugio City Hall, according to the meeting notice.

The public hearing is the primary business listed on the agenda and will give residents an opportunity to comment on the proposed tax increase and tax rate for 2026 property tax collections.

The council is not scheduled to take final action on the tax rate during Tuesday's hearing. According to the agenda, council members are scheduled to vote on the tax rate at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The notice also states the council may retire into executive session on any listed item when necessary and legally justified under the Texas Open Meetings Act.
