When grocery prices are high, buying in bulk does not always make sense for shoppers who are trying to stretch their money until payday.

A new Sherman business, The Refillery, is offering another option by allowing customers to purchase food and household products in the amounts they need.

Customers can bring their own containers and buy products by the ounce, including spices, pasta, tea and laundry products.

Owner Kindra Bierly says she buys products in bulk, allowing her to offer competitive prices while giving customers more control over their spending.

“people need to eat. your spices, your pasta. what i am here to do is help you survive another day,” Bierly said.

Bierly says the goal is to help people who are living paycheck to paycheck and may only need a small amount of a product rather than an entire package.

The business also focuses on reducing packaging waste by encouraging customers to bring reusable containers.

For shoppers like Sherman resident Joey Carter, being able to purchase smaller amounts can be helpful when money is tight.

Carter says many products are sold in larger quantities, but shoppers do not always end up using everything they purchase.

The Refillery offers customers another way to plan their purchases and spend based on what they actually need.
