PORT LAVACA — Beeville opened the Calhoun Tournament with two victories in three matches Thursday, Aug. 20, sweeping Wharton and rallying past Palacios before falling to Corpus Christi Tuloso-Midway.

The Lady Trojans began the day with a convincing 25-14, 25-10 victory over Wharton.

Isabella Weathers led Beeville with five kills, while Kayley Ford and Bailey Bondoc added four apiece. Ford and Bondoc also each recorded a block.

Aubrie Gonzales and Julia McFall served three aces apiece, and Bondoc added one.

Bondoc directed the offense with 11 assists, while Gonzales finished with six. Aleena Gomez and Weathers each recorded nine digs, and Gonzales added eight.

Beeville rallies past Palacios

The Lady Trojans dropped the opening set against Palacios before recovering for a 25-27, 25-19, 25-20 victory.

Weathers again paced the attack, finishing with 10 kills. Ford added nine kills, and Zoe Dembo-Guerra contributed five.

Ford was also a presence at the net with three blocks, while Danika Gonzales recorded two.

Bondoc finished with 17 assists, and Aubrie Gonzales added eight.

Beeville's defense produced three players with at least 27 digs. Bondoc led the way with 31, Gomez recorded 28 and Weathers added 27.

Bondoc, McFall and Gomez each served one ace.

Tuloso-Midway hands Beeville first loss

Beeville closed the opening day with a 25-21, 25-15 loss to Tuloso-Midway.

Weathers led the Lady Trojans with nine kills, while Danika Gonzales added four and Bondoc finished with two.

Dembo-Guerra and Danika Gonzales each recorded a block.

Aubrie Gonzales had eight assists, and Bondoc added seven. Gomez finished with a team-high 10 digs, while Weathers recorded seven.

Bondoc and Gomez each served one ace.
