REFUGIO – Refugio recovered after losing a two-set advantage to defeat Corpus Christi John Paul II in a five-set non-district volleyball match on Tuesday, Aug. 18.

The Lady Cats won 25-23, 25-22, 17-25, 20-25, 15-6.

Caylee Collins led Refugio with eight kills while contributing 14 digs, 11 assists, four aces and three blocks.

Ally Johnston and Cedie Wills recorded seven kills apiece. Johnston led the Lady Cats with five blocks and added four digs. Wills finished with four blocks, 11 digs, one ace and one assist.

Mya Mascorro distributed a team-high nine assists and contributed four kills, five digs and three blocks.

Adriana Lara led Refugio’s defense with 18 digs and shared the team lead with four aces. She also had two assists and one kill.

Cambry Cisneros recorded three kills, five digs and one ace. Aubrey Brown contributed one kill and three digs, while Ava Solis added eight digs.
