The new San Patricio County Justice Center is slowly but surely making its way to completion, with County Engineer John Hernandez saying some of the final stages are in motion.

Hernandez said during a regular meeting of the San Patricio County Commissioners Court on Aug. 17 the project is about 96% complete.

This month’s payout for the county is approximately $770,000, according to Hernandez. He said the county is expecting the first round of delivery of the office furniture for the justice center sometime shortly after Labor Day on Sept. 7.

The three-story and 92,000-square-foot justice center will sit on 25 acres of land near Highway 181 and West Sinton Street, and will house courtrooms for the district and San Patricio County courts-at-law as well as the San Patricio County attorney upon completion. There will also be courtrooms and offices for the district clerk and county clerk, as well as a Sallyport and defendant holding areas separated from the public.
