Fifth attempt at exoneration hearing for man wrongfully convicted of murder Tuesday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The fifth attempt at an exoneration hearing for a man wrongfully convicted of murder, as Andrew Hayes could learn when he will be released from prison Tuesday.

The hearing was pushed back for the fourth time on Monday.

On Tuesday, Hayes prepared for what he and his family hoped would be his final day in prison.

The hearing scheduled for Tuesday morning comes after months of delays due to conflicting schedules and building failures at 201 Poplar.

Hayes is one of two people who had been convicted in the 2007 murder of Danny Harris at a Cordova apartment complex. In January, Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy announced that Hayes was wrongfully convicted. Hayes has been in prison since being sentenced to life in 2010.

His attorneys filed a motion to vacate the sentence, and Mulroy said he will not oppose it.

Investigators said they now believe Harris was killed by mother and daughter Tammy Vance and Sarah Lucas; Vance died in custody some years ago, and Lucas died in February, after she was arrested.
