Reading man wanted in connection with July 21 homicide

READING, Pa. — The Berks County Sheriff's Office is seeking a man wanted in connection with a July 21 homicide in Reading.

According to the authorities, 32-year-old Vincent Sanchez Jr. "attempted to get into a physical altercation" with the eventual victim on the 100 block of South Sixth Street in Reading. The victim approached Sanchez's car, prompting Sanchez to grab a firearm from his car, authorities said.

Authorities said the altercation between Sanchez and the victim eventually became physical before being broken up by witnesses.

But as the victim tried to leave the scene, Sanchez fired a single shot from inside his car, which fatally struck the victim in the chest.

Sanchez has been charged with first-degree murder.

Authorities said Sanchez is 5-foot-11, 220 pounds, and was last known to reside at 107 S. Sixth St. in Reading.
