Police investigating Freemansburg homicide say alleged suspect in custody

FREEMANSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police say a 27-year-old Freemansburg woman is now in custody, following a shooting that left one woman dead and another male critically injured early Saturday morning.

Freemansburg police said officers responded to a reported domestic incident in the 20 block of Market Street around 6:09 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found two people suffering from gun shot wounds. Officers initiated life-saving measures on one victim, and took a 27-year-old woman into custody.

Authorities say the alleged 27-year-old shooter shot another 27-year-old Freemansburg woman and a 45-year-old male, also from Freemansburg.

Both victims were taken to Saint Luke's Fountain Hill.

The 27-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the hospital at 7:16 a.m.. 

The Lehigh County Coroner's office has ruled the manner of death a homicide, and says the victim died of a gunshot injury. An autopsy will be completed on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office & Forensic Center.

The 45-year-old male remains hospitalized.

Three children were inside the home at the time of the incident, according to police.

Officials say criminal charges against the alleged shooter will be forthcoming.

Pennsylvania State Police Troop M‘s Major Case Team have opened a homicide investigation, according to Trooper Nathan Branosky.
