'I'm just grateful that God heard us': Victim's family relived after murder suspect arrested in NYC

READING, Pa. - Authorities have arrested the man they say is responsible for a midday murder in Reading last summer.
Amaryllis Garman, widow of Ellis Garman Sr., who was shot and killed last summer in Downtown Reading near South 6th and Cherry streets, says she was at work when she found out about the arrest.
"I'm just grateful that God heard us," said Garman.
She says a detective called to tell her Vincent Sanchez, the man they say is responsible for her husband's death, was in custody.

"It was just the best feeling in the world at that moment," Garman said.
The victim was shot during a fight in the middle of the day on July 21, 2023 and he died a short time later.
Garman says for the last nine months she's been in contact with investigators, sharing information and staying involved in the case.
"I'm glad I didn't just sit back. I'm glad I stood up and I've always had my husband's back and even after death, I still have his back," she said.
Berks County District Attorney John Adams says law enforcement agencies got information that Sanchez was in New York City and the U.S. Marshals were able to arrest him.
Adams says the circumstances surrounding this case were reckless.
"It's very disturbing that this incident took place on one of our major, busy thoroughfares in the middle of the day," said Adams. "There were pedestrians in the area, we have witnesses, we have video. We're very pleased that we finally will get the opportunity to bring this man to justice."
"When I told them, everybody was overjoyed over the fact that we could finally say 'Justice for Ellis,'" his widow said.
Adams says they are working to get Sanchez extradited back to Pennsylvania.
He is facing several charges including 1st and 3rd degree murder.
