(The Center Square) – Taxpayers in a North Carolina county are footing $2 million for expansion by a global company projected for $35 billion in net revenue this fiscal year.

Healthcare manufacturing solutions provider Jabil said Thursday it would expand operations in Henderson County with a $102 million investment. The Florida-headquartered company plans to build a 180,000-square-foot facility at the company’s existing site within the Garrison Industrial Park in East Flat Rock.

The Henderson County facility is expected to add 148 jobs, according to Jabil. On a direct ratio, the incentive package is just more than $13,500 for each position.

The site is home to manufacturing of precision injection molded components that are subsequently assembled via high-speed automated assembly lines and shipped to customers in the healthcare industry.

Last week, the Board of Commissioners for Henderson County approved a $2 million economic development incentive package for an initiative it called Project Crown. As described then, compared to Thursday’s announcement, it is a match to the Jabil expansion.

The jobs are expected to be created over five years. The incentive package is for seven years.

Jabil has operations in more than two dozen countries and 140,000 employees worldwide. The company posted net revenue of $8.8 billion in the third quarter and projects $35 billion for fiscal year 2026.
