US 2 work near Glacier airport wraps up in Kalispell

KALISPELL, Mont. — The Montana Department of Transportation announced the US 2 project between Rose Crossing and Glacier Park International Airport had been completed.

MDT said crews rebuilt pavement along about four miles of highway in 2025 and added several safety and access upgrades. That work included chip seal and fog seal, curb ramp upgrades at Rose Crossing, electrical work at Rose Crossing and Birch Grove Road, shoulder rumble strips, new pavement markings, signs and roadside delineators.

Sidewalks at the Rose Crossing intersection were also improved to meet ADA standards.

This year, crews returned for bump grinding to smooth some roadway sections paved in 2025. MDT said that work took a few days.

“We worked to minimize impacts to the traveling public throughout this project. MDT and our contracting partner LHC Inc. would like to thank the public for their patience during construction,” said Ryan Paulsen, MDT's engineering project manager.

The project fixed wear and tear along a busy stretch of US 2 where traffic had worn grooves into the driving lanes. The agency said the work was designed to extend the road's service life and create a smoother drive.
