Senator Sheehy rejoined the Navy Reserve after President Donald Trump swore him in during a ceremony in the Oval Office.

Sheehy had previously served as a Navy SEAL officer and team leader. He remained on active duty until 2014.

His service included deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, South America and the Pacific region.

He had been honorably discharged from the Navy Reserve in 2019. Following the Oval Office ceremony, he was set to return to the reserve force.
