MONTANA — Montana is ranked as the second most patriotic state in the country in a recent WalletHub report.

The report placed Montana behind only Virginia. It measured patriotism using 13 indicators, including military service, veteran population, voter participation in the 2024 election and volunteer rates.

Montana’s veteran population played a major role in the ranking. The report found there were 101 veterans for every 1,000 civilians in the state.

The report also showed Montana was one of the top states for voter turnout in 2024.

According to the report, Montana ranked second in jury service and in the number of AmeriCorps volunteers. Montana was also one of 10 states with volunteer rates above 35 percent.
