Montana Jewish Project announced this week the appointment of Rabbi Jeanne Snodgrass as its new executive director.

Snodgrass, who takes the post Monday, succeeds Rebecca Stanfel, who stepped down June 1 following years of “transformative leadership,” the organization said in a news release.

Snodgrass said she is honored to join the Montana Jewish Project.

“This community has built something remarkable, and I look forward to listening, learning and helping carry that work forward across Montana,” Snodgrass said in a statement.

According to the news release, Snodgrass brings more than 15 years of experience as a Jewish communal professional, most recently as executive director of Hillel at the University of Missouri, Columbia.

It said she has a record of strengthening local economies and supporting small businesses.

Snodgrass also is an interfaith organizer and former public school board director who has worked in communities of different sizes, geography and demographics, according to the news release.

She has developed financially sustainable organizations, mentored staff and student leaders, and built partnerships with elected officials and other community members.

Montana Jewish Project Board Chairperson Julie Bir said the search for a new leader resulted in “remarkable candidates.”

“Rabbi Jeanne stood out for her warmth, her experience building sustainable Jewish community, and her excitement for Montana,” Bir said in a statement.
