Thousands of runners converge on Montana's capital city for 2026 Governor's Cup race
Thousands of runners raced across Helena for the 2026 Governor's Cup on Saturday before crossing the finish line at Anchor Park.
Over 2000 runners from 30 states gathered in downtown Helena for the 2026 Governer's Cup half Marathon, 10k, 5k and Fun run Saturday. Over 300 volunteered helped out the runners along the race route.

This year's cup included a half-marathon, 10K, 5K and one-mile race for participants' varying preferred distances.
Officials said around 300 volunteers were needed to put on the race to guide runners along the correct path, set up cones, organize traffic and more.
Racers from around the country raced through Helena's streets — some at blistering paces. Luke Mest, of Missoula, finished the half-marathon with a pace just over 5:30 per mile.

As racers moved throughout the Queen City, they passed the state Capitol building and went through the Walking Mall downtown before crossing the finish line in Anchor Park.
Racers were met with smiles, cheers, water, snacks and support from their family and friends.
