A 77-year-old Bozeman man is dead after he was found unresponsive in an outdoor pool at Fairmont Hot Springs Friday night, according to the Butte-Silver Bow sheriff.

Butte police and fire personnel, along with A-1 Ambulance crews, responded to the hot springs at 9 p.m. after the man was found unresponsive and pulled out of the pool, according to Sheriff Ed Lester.

Despite efforts to resuscitate him, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff said.

The Butte-Silver Bow Coroner’s Office responded as well and will conduct an autopsy to determine the man’s cause and manner of death.

His identity is being withheld as of Saturday morning. Lester said the investigation remains active.
