Missoula crews rescue injured person after 50-foot fall into Blackfoot River
MISSOULA COUNTY, Mont. — The Missoula Rural Fire District (MRFD) led a successful rescue operation Saturday on the Blackfoot River near Highway 200, following reports that a person fell from rocks and landed in the water.
MISSOULA COUNTY, Mont. — The Missoula Rural Fire District (MRFD) led a successful rescue operation Saturday on the Blackfoot River near Highway 200, following reports that a person fell from rocks and landed in the water.
According to MRFD officials, crews responded to the scene around 12 p.m. A companion reportedly pulled the patient out of the river as fire crews were rappelling down a cliff to reach them.
Upon arrival, crews immediately began administering medical care. MRFD officials reported that the patient had sustained serious injuries after falling roughly 50 feet. They were quickly transported to a local hospital.
