ANACONDA, Mont. – Kicking off the Smeltermen’s Day weekend celebration in Anaconda on August 7, Kathy Ilene Lunde launched her historic book, Echoes of Anaconda: Stories Carried on the Copper Wind.
Echoes of Anaconda was a years-long project, with Lunde having collected forgotten stories, historical photographs, newspaper accounts, family histories and local research that helped preserve Anaconda’s history.
In the months leading up to the book’s launch, Lunda shared historical photographs, restoration projects and research that went into the book before publication.
Lunde held a book signing during the Anaconda Artwalk at the Northern Hall Taproom. There, the Echoes of Anaconda: A Coloring book, made its debut, created from historic photographs of what shaped Anaconda.
“The response to Echoes of Anaconda has been more than we expected, and we’re incredibly grateful for how many people have reached out, shared our posts, and told us they’re excited to read it,” was shared in a Facebook post on the official Echoes of Anaconda page.
“Tonight is really about celebrating Anaconda, its history, and the community that has supported this project from the beginning.”
