Law enforcement testimony in court documents allege that the suspect, Kyle Anne Morrow, accused of fatally shooting someone at the Spa Hot Springs Motel in White Sulphur Springs afterward fled to her house and tried to drive away.
In the documents, Eric Baumann, a law enforcement officer of the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation, compiled witness and police testimony to accuse Morrow of deliberate homicide.
He said relevant facts began at 1:56 p.m. on July 12, when the Sheriff's non-emergency line received a call from the Spa Hot Springs Motel saying there was a shooting. Baumann said the caller told them the model and license plate number of the suspect.
Deputies arrived and looked for the suspect's car, but did not find them. Then, Baumann said, Undersheriff Jerami West recalled an individual who drove a matching car and previously worked at the Spa Motel.
West confirmed the individual drove a car matching the description and then went their property, Baumann said. He said West found the suspected car at the property and attempted to communicate with the individual, calling her seven times, but she "refused to communicate."
Responding officers formed a perimeter around her house, Baumann said.
"Sometime later," Morrow left the house on her own, got in the suspected car, and "began to leave her property," Baumann said.
A Highway Patrol trooper physically blocked her car and deputies took the suspect into custody, Baumann said. Officers later found a bottle of Jameson and a handgun case in her car.
Baumann said that in an interview, a front desk employee from the spa said Morrow had walked into the building asking for an employee. He said the employee said they told the suspect the employee was in, and the suspect walking through the swinging gate.
"A few minutes later I heard the shot. I was on my way to the back when I saw her a few steps in front of the employee entrance. She said 'He is a son of a bitch, I shot him.' She left. I went to his office and saw him on the floor and blood. I called the local sheriff office," the employee said according to Baumann.
Two witnesses described the suspect as wearing a hat, a white and black dress and gloves. The witness description of the suspect matched video footage, which showed her in the building carrying a small revolver.
Baumann said that after Morrow was detained, she main "several unsolicited statements that she shot the victim."
Later investigation at the suspect's residence revealed several suicide notes in which the Morrow admitted to killing the victim.
Morrow was booked in to the Meagher County Detention Center on charges of deliberate homicide.
