Group responsible for $3 million to Democrat in Montana Senate race pulls support

In that announcement, the PAC said a Democrat does not have a path to the United States Senate in Montana.
"Progressive Vet PAC formed in early 2026 to combat MAGA Republicans trying to rig the Montana Democratic primary for US Senate," the release said. "Unfortunately, recent polling and fundraising reports make it clear that a Democrat does not have a viable path to winning the Montana Senate seat."
Instead, the organization will focus on another veteran running as a Democrat in Kansas, Noah Taylor.
"A veteran of the war in Afghanistan, Noah is fighting for Kansas families squeezed by rising grocery bills, tariffs, and property taxes and has the grit and determination to take on powerful elites, corporations, and career politicians like Roger Marshall," the release said.
The Progressive Vet PAC's website previously showcased a small selection of other candidates they were supporting, but as of Tuesday it only featured Noah Taylor.
Taylor significantly trailed other Democrats in a primary election poll conducted earlier in June.
Multiple polls have shown that Alme has a commanding lead over Bankhead and independent candidate Seth Bodnar in Montana, including one conducted June 23-24 and published on Tuesday.
The PAC had listed Moffie Funk, a former democratic state house representative from Montana as its treasurer.
In a sit down with NonStop Local prior to the PAC's announcement, Bankhead was asked about the group. She said she was initially unfamiliar with Funk and supports the Montana plan, a proposal meant to prevent corporations from spending money in Montana elections.
