BOZEMAN, Mont. — Montana State University is gearing up for football season as Gold Rush T-shirts quickly sold after their weekend release.
The shirts went on sale Friday ahead of the Gold Rush game on September 5, the team’s first home game of the season. Fans are encouraged to wear gold for the game.
The new shirt says, “Champions Wear Gold” and features four flags for each season the football team won the national title, with 2025 listed as the latest.
MSU Bookstore President and CEO Chad Schreier said the bookstore sold three times as many Gold Rush shirts in the first three days as it did last year.
The bookstore’s mall branch stayed busy over the weekend. Staff are working to fillonline orders as more shirts were sold through the store.
The store already placed a restock order to keep up with demand. Schreier also recommended buying a shirt before game day instead of waiting to shop at the stadium.
“There’s no experience like it in college football. And Gold Rush is sort of the pinnacle of that. You know, the start of the year, the anticipation is high. It’s certainly high this year with, you know, coming in as the reigning national champions, with all of the pieces in place.I think people are really, really excited,” Schreier said.
Some larger sizes have already sold out, but new inventory is on the way. The Gold Rush game is scheduled for September 5.
