Bozeman police ask residents to avoid Tschache Lane area

BOZEMAN, Mont. – A group of people approached a Bozeman police officer on patrol to report a stabbing on the 200 block of East Main Street on July 11, at 1:20 a.m. The stabbing victim was escorted by bystanders to the officer where immediate care was provided.  Emergency medical responders arrived quickly to assume care. 

The hospital allowed release for the stabbing victim after wounds were treated. Investigations so far have found no indication of multiple victims or injuries at this time. 

Additional officers responded and investigated the business where the stabbing occurred. The staff provided video surveillance footage that captured a disturbance inside the business just before the victim was stabbed. A physical description of the suspect was gathered from the footage and dispatched to officers in the area. 

At 1:26 a.m., officers found the suspect and took him into custody when a witness alerted them that he was attempting to leave the area.

The Gallatin County Detention Center holds the suspect at this time, without bond for crimes of assault with a weapon and criminal endangerment. The suspect is scheduled to appear at the Gallatin County Justice Court on Monday, July 13.
