MISSOULA, MT- The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has moved the MT01 House race onto its list of races they believe they can win.
Sam Forstag (D-MT01) now picks up the support of the official campaign arm of the Democrats.
Forstag being added to the committee’s ‘Red to Blue’ program means that the
DCCC is invested in providing Forstag with the support. Through Red to Blue, the DCCC provides strategic guidance, staff resources, candidate trainings,
fundraising support, and more.
“Sam Forstag is a smokejumper and union leader who puts his life on the
line to protect his neighbors and community from wildfires. Deeply
committed to Western Montana, Sam is the kind of authentic, dynamic
leader that working people want fighting for them in Washington. While
Aaron Flint pledges himself to a corrupt political system and a reckless,
cost-hiking agenda, Sam is making it clear his top priority is and will always
be working Montanans," said DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene.
Polls and political experts rate the district “Likely R,” but many view it as a possible for Democrats given that the incumbent is not running for reelection.
The district is viewed as more competitive than the last several cycles.
Democrats proudly proclaim that Senator Jon Tester won MT01 in 2024, despite Republicans holding the seat since the district's inception.
Congressman Ryan Zinke announced he would not seek reelection for a fourth term.
Conservative radio host Aaron Flint won the primary election to serve as the Republican Party's nominee.
