The event was held at 6:30 a.m. Sept. 11 at the Central Valley Fire District, 215 Wings way. There, Belgrade Police Chief Dustin Lensing shared his experience as a rookie officer in Belgrade on Sept. 11, 2001, and on what the country was like in the days following the attacks.
“When people needed help, people answered,” he said. “Police officers, firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers, and ordinary citizens stepped forward. Nobody had all the answers. They simply did what needed to be done for the person in front of them.”
The city thanked the Central Valley Fire District for hosting the ceremony and expressed thanks to CVFD Chief Jay Wittwer, Central Valley Firefighters Union President Nick Stinson, and Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport President & CEO Brian Sprenger for sharing their reflections.
“And thank you to everyone from our community who joined us this morning to remember and pay their respects,” reads the city’s statement. “May we never forget.”
