Bozeman Tip-A-Cop Fundraiser Supports Special Olympics Montana

Bozeman, Mont. — First responders in Bozeman spent the evening serving meals at Texas Roadhouse to raise money for Special Olympics Montana.
Officers took part in the Tip-A-Cop fundraiser at the restaurant on 870 Harmon Stream Boulevard from 4p.m. to 10p.m. on Thursday, June 25th.
Bozeman police served customers and collected donations in place of tips, as the money raised went directly to Special Olympics Montana and the athletes that compete each year.
“I love working with the athletes. Their smiles bring me a lot of joy and seeing them having a great time, that’s what it’s all about,” said Logan Alexander, deputy with the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office.
For one athlete in particular with Special Olympics Montana, the fundraiser reflected a deeper connection to the organization.
Bozeman was not the only city taking part in the festivities, as the fundraiser was a statewide effort. Similar Tip-A-Cop fundraisers also collected donations in Missoula, Great Falls and Billings.
“Special Olympics is really, it means a lot to me because when I was young, I didn’t really have a big family but since I came to Montana it made a bigger family for me and the support and the love and everything that just goes with it is humongous for me,” said Ruth Spinelli, a Special Olympics Montana athlete.
The fundraiser also included a Bozeman cops versus firefighters cornhole tournament at the Market Building patio. That event ran from 4:30p.m. to 7:30p.m.
Bozeman was not the only city taking part in the festivities, as the fundraiser was a statewide effort. Similar Tip-A-Cop fundraisers also collected donations in Missoula, Great Falls and Billings.
