  • Members of the Solon Township Planning Commission have voted to extend their six-month data center moratorium by another six months, according to MLive’s Ehren Wynder. The board initially approved a moratorium in February.

Legislative Action

  • State Rep. Reggie Miller (D-Van Buren Township) has introduced two bills –House Bills 6251 and 6252 — focused on providing communities with information around the electrical use and thermal impacts of data centers. The legislation requires data center developers to submit information a facility’s energy use, cooling technology and any impacts on local air and surface temperatures to the Michigan Public Service Commission in order to move forward with the construction or expansion of a data center.
