Woman sought in theft of Shreveport judicial campaign signs

SHREVEPORT, La. -- The Shreveport Police Department is asking for the public's help identifying a woman suspected of stealing multiple political campaign signs across the city.

The investigation began after a complaint was filed June 17, reporting that several campaign signs promoting a candidate for Shreveport City Court judge had been stolen from public locations throughout Shreveport.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video from the intersection of Greenwood Road and Jewella Avenue that reportedly shows a white female wearing a dress and black heels removing four campaign signs. According to investigators, the woman placed the signs into the trunk of a dark-colored Mercedes-Benz before leaving the area.

Detectives said they also learned the woman allegedly told a witness she was specifically targeting the complainant's campaign signs and intended to remove them from multiple locations.

Investigators are examining additional reported sign thefts to determine whether the same woman is responsible.

Police said campaign signs placed in lawful locations are private property, and intentionally removing them without permission may constitute theft. Detectives said they are working to identify the suspect and complete the investigation.
