Wildfire reignites in Sabine Parish
MANY, La. -- A wildfire sparked on Tuesday by a vehicle dragging a chain on the highway has reignited today, prompting another response from Sabine Parish firefighters. The North Sabine Fire District is actively addressing the fire scene and closely monitoring the area, according to the Sabine Parish Police Jury. The flames on Tuesday had rapidly spread toward the Sabine Parish Landfill before being contained and extinguished. Today, Fire Chief Nick Spann said the landfill remains safe and is not under threat. The fire started Tuesday near Walmart on U.S. Highway 171. It evolved into multiple fires, prompting response from the Central Sabine Fire Department and North Sabine Fire District. Fire officials said drought conditions and wind contributed to the fire's quick movement.
