SHREVEPORT, La. -- Water pressure has been restored to normal for customers in southwest Shreveport following a lightning strike that damaged equipment at the Inner Loop Booster Station during Friday night's storms.

Parts on order to complete the repairs should arrive early next week, city officials said. 

In the meantime, crews put temporary measures in place to restore normal water pressure for impacted customers. Water & Sewerage Department personnel will continue to monitor the system until permanent repairs can be completed.

"We appreciate the patience of our customers and are proud of the quick response by our Water & Sewerage team," said Brandon R. Snead, Water & Sewerage Department interim director. "Our crews immediately put emergency plans into action, identified the problem, developed multiple repair options, and worked diligently to restore normal water pressure while we await the arrival of replacement parts."

SHREVEPORT, La. – Water customers in southwest Shreveport may be experiencing low water pressure because of damage to one of the city's booster stations. 

City officials said a lightning strike damaged the Inner Loop booster station when a thunderstorm moved through that area Friday night. Water & Sewerage Department crews have been working around the clock to restore service. 

The city has also brought in local and regional contractors to assist with repairs. In addition, Water & Sewerage personnel are exploring alternative operational measures to help stabilize and levelize water pressure throughout the affected area while repairs are underway.

"We understand the inconvenience this situation creates for our residents and businesses, and we want the public to know that restoring service is our top priority," said Brandon R. Snead, Water & Sewerage Department interim director. "Our crews responded immediately, and we are utilizing every available resource to restore pressure and return the booster station to full operation as quickly as possible."

At this time, there is no estimated timeline for full restoration. The city will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
