Veteran Shreveport political analyst arrested on domestic abuse charges

SHREVEPORT, La. – A Shreveport man with a long career as a political consultant and area pollster was arrested early Tuesday morning for allegedly threatening his wife with a gun and hitting her.

Shreveport police arrested Elliott Stonecipher, 75, and booked him into the Caddo Correctional Center at 2:28 a.m. on charges of domestic abuse aggravated assault and domestic abuse battery.

He remained in custody Wednesday afternoon with no bond.

Stonecipher is a veteran in political circles, having conducted assorted political polls and analyzing voter data since the 1970s. He’s the founder of Evets Management Services.

A family member reported the domestic incident late Monday night to police after finding the victim with injuries and taking her to a grocery store parking lot on Ellerbe Road to meet with officers.  The victim reportedly accused Stonecipher of drinking and being abusive for several days prior.

According to the police report, the victim said she was ready to leave their house on Rochel Drive, but Stonecipher followed her with a revolver and ordered her back inside. Later, she alleged Stonecipher came into a room where she was reading and began hitting her in the face.

The victim suffered swelling and bruises on her arms and legs and had a small cut above her upper lip, the report states.

Police went to Stonecipher’s home, where he had to be taken down by the officers after he initially refused loud verbal commands to come out of the house, the report states.

Stonecipher had a visible injury to the left side of his face. He refused to make a statement about what happened and how the victim was injured, police said.
