Two killed in head-on collision in DeSoto Parish

FRIERSON, La. — Two drivers were killed in a head-on collision early Friday morning on state Highway 175 near Scott Road in DeSoto Parish.
Louisiana State Police identified the victims as Carlos Helm, 49, of Mansfield and Alonzo Thompkins, 39 of Arlington, Texas.
Troopers said Helm was traveling north in a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse when he crossed the centerline, striking Thompkins’ 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe head-on.
Both men were wearing seat belts but were pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say impairment is not currently suspected, though toxicology samples were submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
