Texarkana Arkansas school district mourns teacher and coach

TEXARKANA, Ark. - The Texarkana Arkansas School District is mourning the death of Elgie Richards Jr., a teacher at Trice Elementary and assistant basketball and football coach.

The district said Richards was dedicated to serving students in the classroom and through athletics.

Richards' impact will be remembered by students, colleagues, families and fellow Razorbacks, according to the district.

The district also expressed condolences to Richards' family, including his father, Elgie Richards Sr., who is a longtime TASD educator.

The district said Richards leaves behind a legacy within the school community.
