TAPD confirms human remains are missing Bossier City man
TEXARKANA, Ark. — Human remains found last week in a Texarkana neighborhood have been positively identified as a Bossier City man who had been missing for more than a month.
TEXARKANA, Ark. — Human remains found last week in a Texarkana neighborhood have been positively identified as a Bossier City man who had been missing for more than a month.
DNA testing by the state crime lab confirmed Jonathan Bohrer's identity, the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department said late Thursday.
Bohrer's family already suspected the outcome after viewing some personal items found with the remains.
Bohrer was reported missing on May 6 from Bossier Parish. His truck was found six days later on East Street in Texarkana, Ark.
The police department and Bohrer's family had been searching for him since then.
On June 11, a person mowing a yard found the skeletal remains near the corner of Delaware and Ray streets.
Bohrer's father, Brian Bohrer, said family members traveled to Texarkana to view personal items recovered near the remains. He also said the family had discovered a notification showing Jonathan's bank card was used in early May at a Sunoco gas station located about two blocks from where the remains were found.
"TAPD’s sincere condolences go out to the family and friends of Jonathan Bohrer. While this is not the outcome we wanted, we hope that this confirmation will help bring closure and a degree of healing to the Bohrer family," TAPD said in a news release.
The department is waiting on information from the Arkansas State Crime Lab Medical Examiner’s Office to determine Bohrer's cause of death of Bohrer.
