SPD officer arrested following domestic-related investigation
SHREVEPORT, La. -- The Shreveport Police Department has continued its internal review of a domestic-related incident involving a Shreveport police officer that was initially reported to have occurred in Bossier City.
SHREVEPORT, La. -- The Shreveport Police Department has continued its internal review of a domestic-related incident involving a Shreveport police officer that was initially reported to have occurred in Bossier City.
Upon first learning of the incident, Chief Wayne Smith immediately placed Officer Jimmy Evans Jr. on administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal investigation.
As the investigation progressed, detectives determined the matter involved an ongoing domestic situation involving another member of the law enforcement community, SPD said in a news release.
Based on evidence developed during the investigation and subsequent incidents, Evans was arrested Wednesday by the Shreveport Police Department.
Evans has been charged with:
- Stalking
- Improper telephone communications.
Evans, who was hired by the Shreveport Police Department in July 2024, remained on administrative leave throughout the investigation.
"The Shreveport Police Department is committed to holding its employees to the same standards of accountability as every member of the community. Criminal allegations involving any employee are investigated thoroughly, and appropriate action is taken when the evidence supports criminal charges," Cpl. Chris Bordelon said in a news release.
