Shreveport police seek man accused of stealing political yard sign

SHREVEPORT, La. — Shreveport police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man -- who has a resemblance to Santa Claus -- accused of stealing a political yard sign from a property on Quail Creek Road.

Officers responded July 20 to the 990 block of Quail Creek Road after a report of a stolen political sign. Investigators determined the theft occurred about 9:57 a.m. July 18.

Surveillance video shows a man with white hair and a white beard wearing blue jean overalls over a white T-shirt. Police said the man drove near the sign, returned to the entrance of the property, stopped to read the sign and parked between two vehicles.

The man then got out of his vehicle, walked to the sign, removed it from its posts and left with it, according to police.

Because of the suspect’s white hair and beard, investigators noted that he looks a lot like Santa Claus.

“Ho, ho, ho — happy election season. Apparently, ’tis the season to nab political signs,” the Police Department said in its release.

Police are releasing surveillance video of the suspect in hopes someone will recognize him.
