SHREVEPORT, La. — The Shreveport Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in west Shreveport on June 20.
The operation is scheduled to begin at approximately 9 p.m. and will continue until 4 a.m.
Department officials said the checkpoint will be conducted in accordance with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration guidelines and Louisiana law. Officers will look for impaired drivers in an effort to reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities caused by impaired driving.
The Shreveport Police Department stated that it remains committed to keeping roadways safe for everyone. Anyone who plans to consume alcohol or other impairing substances is encouraged to make arrangements for a sober ride home by designating a driver, using a rideshare service, calling a friend, or staying in place until it is safe to drive.
Officers added that driving under the influence puts lives at risk and will not be tolerated.
