SHREVEPORT, La. — Local authorities have arrested a 36-year-old man who was facing multiple child sex crime charges.
Detectives with the Shreveport Police Department’s Sex Crimes Unit had issued an arrest warrant for Christopher D. Christaw after investigating the alleged sexual assault of a child under 13 years old.
Sheveport police said in a news release on Monday that the victim detailed the alleged abuse during a forensic interview with investigators. Although Christaw initially agreed to meet with detectives for questioning, he failed to show up for his scheduled appointment, prompting the search.
As the investigation progressed, authorities discovered that Christaw has a previous conviction for a sexual offense.
On July 9, detectives officially obtained warrants charging Christaw with one count of sexual battery of a child under the age of 13 and one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile.
Christaw is now in custody following the police investigation.
