SHREVEPORT, La. — Sci-Port Discovery Center achieved its most successful event in the eight years since its reopening, drawing thousands of visitors to a temporary exhibition and a single-day festival funded by a city grant, the center's director announced Tuesday.
Sci-Port Discovery Center Executive Director Diane Clark presented the results of a $15,000 city grant used to host the "Natural Histories" exhibition and a one-day "Bug Bazaar."
Clark reported that the museum spent nearly $14,000 of the allocated funds, returning the remainder to the city.
The event brought in nearly 12,000 guests, including 2,600 Caddo Parish residents and 3,800 field trip visitors.
According to Clark, general admissions exceeded $207,000 during the period, and an economic event impact calculator estimated a total return on investment of approximately $42,000.
