Officer-involved shooting

SHREVEPORT, La. - A suspect is in custody after leading Shreveport police on a chase and firing at officers Saturday.

According to the Shreveport Police Department, officers responded to the 500 block of Boulevard Street after a caller reported a possible domestic violence incident. 

Officers arrived and were told Lindell Washington was leaving the area in a vehicle. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but Washington sped away, leading officers on a pursuit. 

The chase ended at Knight Street and Preston Street when Washington crashed the vehicle. 

According to police, the Washington got out of the vehicle and fired at officers who returned fire.

No officers, the suspect or any members of the public were injured. 

Police said bullets hit the nearby YMCA but the building was closed at the time with no one inside. 

Washington was taken into custody without injury.

Washington faces three counts of attempted first-degree murder of a police officer, aggravated flight from an officer, theft of a firearm, illegal possession of stolen things, hit and run, possession of narcotics and Probation and Parole hold.

The officer who fired his weapon has been placed on standard administrative review.
