Miss Louisiana Shelby Bordelon prepares for Miss America competition in Florida

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Miss Louisiana Shelby Bordelon is scheduled to depart Thursday for West Palm Beach, Fla., to represent the state at the national Miss America competition.
Bordelon, a native of Sunshine in Iberville Parish, aims to become the first representative from Louisiana to win the national crown.
She will compete against 52 contestants representing all 50 states, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico.
A graduate student at Southeastern Louisiana University, Bordelon earned a $15,000 college scholarship when crowned Miss Louisiana 2026. She previously held the title of Miss Louisiana Port City.
The competition includes evaluations in talent, evening gown and fitness categories. To prepare for the national stage, Bordelon worked with the Miss Louisiana Organization board of directors on interview preparation, current events and physical wellness.
