Jayi Tronathan Davis

SHREVEPORT, La. -- A Shreveport man wanted in connection to a stabbing in a SporTran bus has been arrested while attempting to get on another bus today.

Police had been looking for Jayi Tronathan Davis, 41, since identifying as a suspect in the stabbing that happened on July 18 on a bus stopped near Stoner and Louisiana avenues.

The 48-year-old victim was assaulted and taken to Willis-Knighton North for treatment of injuries that were determined to be non-life threatening, police said.

Someone recognized Davis today as he was getting on another SporTran bus and called police. Uniformed officers responded and took him into custody without incident.

Davis is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

"The Shreveport Police Department thanks the alert witness whose quick actions assisted officers in making this arrest," police said in a news release.
