LSP releases details in Mansfield officer-involved shooting

JayXavier Wilson, 20, of Mansfield was arrested in Shreveport without incident following a multi-agency effort and booked into the Caddo Correction Center. He'll eventually be moved to the DeSoto Parish Detention Center.
The shooting was reported just after midnight near the intersection of U.S. highways 171 and 84 in Mansfield.
State police investigators took over the scene and neither they nor Mansfield police released additional details about what happened.
In a news release Thursday night, however, state police said an unidentified Mansfield police officer had conducted a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 171 and that's when Wilson, who was one of the occupants of the vehicle, allegedly pulled a gun. The officer fired and Wilson ran, LSP said.
The officer was not injured.
Wilson was booked into CCC as a fugitive from DeSoto Parish for the charges of aggravated assault upon a peace officer, resisting an officer, and possession of marijuana.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
