DOTD Homer Road construction map
MINDEN, La. -- Improvements are on the way for a heavily traveled roadway in Webster Parish.

The state Department of Transportation and Development will begin work on Aug. 9 on a $7.2 million project to repair a 7.6-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 79 -- also known as Homer Road -- through Minden, extending from Main Street to the Claiborne Parish line.

To keep traffic moving during busy daytime hours, work inside the city of Minden will take place at night between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The entire project is scheduled to wrap up in late 2026, depending on weather and construction conditions.
