Illegal immigrant living in Bossier City sentenced to federal prison
SHREVEPORT, La. – A Honduran man who had been living in the United States illegally – after being removed three times in the past 12 years -- has been sentenced to spend a year in federal prison, U.S. Attorney Zachary Keller said in a news release Wednesday.

SHREVEPORT, La. – A Honduran man who had been living in the United States illegally – after being removed three times in the past 12 years -- has been sentenced to spend a year in federal prison, U.S. Attorney Zachary Keller said in a news release Wednesday.
U.S. District Judge Terry A. Doughty sentenced Johnny Salazar-Ruano, 41, last week following his guilty plea in March to a charge of illegal reentry of a removed alien.
Salazar-Ruano was living in Bossier City.
He had been previously removed from the U.S. on July 3, 2014, on Aug. 17, 2015, and a third time on Feb. 1, 2021, after being convicted in Caddo Parish of felony domestic abuse child endangerment. In that case, Salazar-Ruanopled guilty to assaulting a woman in the presence of her 12-year-old child.
On Jan. 10, Salazar-Ruano was again in the U.S. And that’s when Bossier City police stopped him on a traffic violation. The officers had prior information from Homeland Security Investigations that the registered owner had an active federal warrant for illegal reentry.
Salazar-Ruano refused to get out of the van. When officers opened the driver's door, he attempted to crawl toward the passenger side of the vehicle to avoid being detained. Officers got him out after a brief struggle.
