SHREVEPORT, La. — Emergency crews are on the scene of a large fire at an abandoned home in Shreveport.
Firefighters responded around 11 a.m. Wednesday to the structure located at 5407 South Lakeshore Drive, near Briarcliff, which is just outside the city limits.
At the height of the fire, about 30 fire units with about 45 firefighters were on the scene.
The property is a somewhat well-known unfinished structure in the neighborhood. Construction on the house was started by a man who died before he could complete it.
Neighbors told firefighters there has been activity in the house over the past year.
While the cause of the fire was not immediately known, Fire Chief Clarence Reese said it is "suspicious" and believed linked to arson.
